The most popular online shopping platform in the world, Amazon, offers great deals and cheap prices on just about everything you could need or want. However, if you’re an Arab from the Middle East region or have Middle Eastern origins such as Egypt, Syria, Lebanon or Jordan, shopping on Amazon might be quite challenging since most of the products sold on Amazon are not available for shipping to these countries. Luckily, there are ways to overcome this problem and start buying products through Amazon right now! Here’s how to shop on Amazon as an Arab.
What can you buy?
Arabic Shopping Guide is the quickest way for Arabic speakers to find products in Arabic. It’s a fun and easy way to search, shop and buy products without leaving home. You can use Arabic Shopping Guide in three ways:
- Use the search bar at the top of the page;
- Type in a product name;
- Browse by category (clothes, electronics, and books). See something you like? Click it to see more details about the product, and click Add to Cart if you want to purchase it.
- If you don’t know what you’re looking for, type in keywords that might relate to your interests. For example: Arabic literature, or chocolate.
- Click on any products that interest you from those results to read detailed information about them.
- Click Add-to-Cart if there are items you want.
What can’t you buy?
In many ways, shopping on Amazon is the same experience for everyone. You can buy books, clothes, toys and a whole lot more. However, there are some things that you can’t buy from this site if you happen to be in the Arab world. Products such as ‘Gummi Bears’ or ‘AOL’ will not show up in your search results if you type them into the search bar.
What about sites like Souq? Yes, there are sites like Souq where you can find products which may not be available on امازون بالعربي.
The beauty of buying from Souq though is that they also have prices listed for each product so it makes it easy to compare prices and quality between different sellers of the same product.
How do I find out if I can buy it?
If you want to know if you can buy something, the first thing you need to do is go the page for that product and see if it says anything about shipping restrictions. If you don’t see anything about shipping restrictions, then you’re probably good to go. You’ll be able to add it your cart and check out with no problem. But what happens if there are restrictions? Well, in this case I would just try clicking a different version of the same product from a different seller. They may not have the same shipping restriction that caused me to not be able to purchase it in the first place. It’s important to note, though, that buying from other sellers isn’t always 100% safe so make sure you read reviews before deciding whether or not to buy from them.
When will my stuff get here?
You can also find out when your order will arrive by looking at the estimated delivery date which is shown above the price of each item. This date is a rough estimate and should be seen as such; it is not guaranteed. Items that are delivered in 3-7 days will have an estimated delivery date of 3-5 days, while those delivered in 7-10 days will have a 5-8 day estimated delivery date. Items shipped from 1-2 weeks will have an 8-14 day estimate and items that ship within 2 weeks or less will display a 2-4 day delivery window.
